Additional Planning Commission Meeting Added
The Planning Commission held their first public hearing and work session on the staff draft Zoning Ordinance and draft Zoning Map on January 14, 2026. At this meeting, the Commission discussed historic preservation regulations, parking, the pedestrian and bicycle facilities division, amenity space, and the Comprehensive Map Amendment’s proposed rezonings in Planning Area 10 (Montrose and North Farm) and Planning Area 12 (Tower Oaks).
The Planning Commission will continue its review next week, with the second adoption work session and public hearing on Jan. 28. Discussion will include fencing, including deer mesh; certain use standards; nonconformities; and the state’s Starter and Silver Homes Act.
During the January 14 meeting, the Planning Commission decided to schedule an additional meeting in order to host another work session and public hearing on the draft documents. That additional meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, at 7 pm. Information on joining the meeting can be found in the “Key Dates” widget on Engage Rockville.
The brief book for the meetings, which includes the staff report and other briefing materials, will be available in the city’s agenda center approximately one week before the meeting. Planning Commission meetings begin at 7 p.m. and are held in the Mayor and Council chambers at Rockville City Hall. The meeting is broadcast live on Channel 11.
