Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan
Help Rockville Get Ready for EVs!
The City of Rockville is developing the city's first Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan. Many residents and fleet managers already recognize the benefits of converting to electric fuel sources. Electric vehicles cost less to operate, produce no exhaust, improve air quality and health, and will help the city achieve our goals in the Climate Action Plan.
The EV Readiness Plan will help identify ways the city can work with county, state and federal programs to better facilitate a rapid adoption of electric vehicles and meet a growing demand for charging. By knowing how many, where, and what types of chargers are needed to serve residents, businesses, visitors, and city fleet, we will be well-prepared for Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant opportunities for public charging. The plan will identify policy and permitting needs to make EV charger installation faster and meet growing demand. Importantly, the city seeks to ensure equitable access to charging for residents of multi-family dwelling units or who don't have access to a garage or driveway.
