Rockville's Draft EV Readiness Plan is Ready for Your Comments!
The City of Rockville has developed the city's first Draft Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan and your comments are needed! The plan contains 26 actions in 4 categories to help support the conversion from combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles in City of Rockville for residents, workers, and visitors. Much research, consultant analysis, best practices analysis, and public input went into forming the plan and its actions. Submit your feedback using this form by February 3!

The EV Readiness Plan identifies ways the city can work with county, state and federal programs to better facilitate a rapid adoption of electric vehicles and meet a growing demand for charging. By knowing how many, where, and what types of chargers are needed to serve residents, businesses, visitors, and city fleet, we will be well-prepared for Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grant opportunities for public charging.

The plan will identify policy and permitting needs to make EV charger installation faster and meet growing demand. Importantly, the city seeks to ensure equitable access to charging for residents of multi-family dwelling units or who don't have access to a garage or driveway.

Many residents and fleet managers already recognize the benefits of converting to electric fuel sources. Electric vehicles cost less to operate, produce no exhaust, improve air quality and health, and will help the city achieve our goals in the Climate Action Plan.

We've been implementing electric vehicle readiness as we write the plan! For updates on grants, fleet, codes and more, view the Climate Action Plan Annual Report sustainable transportation dashboard.
