The East Rockville Neighborhood Plan Update Kicks Off!

The Mayor and Council have requested that a new neighborhood plan be created for East Rockville (Planning Area 2) to update the respective chapter in the city's 2021 Comprehensive Plan. With significant changes in the community's housing market since the Comprehensive Plan was adopted, such as an increase in residential density and housing types, there is a need to update the East Rockville plan to reflect these new realities and position the area to meet the challenges of the next few decades. Additional trends like transit-oriented development point toward development opportunities near the Rockville Metro station.

The city's Department of Community Planning and Development Services (CPDS) will take the lead on developing this plan. There will be several opportunities over the coming months to engage with the city and provide ideas, suggestions, and feedback on what should be included in the East Rockville Neighborhood Plan.
